On June 2, 2024, Dr. Fujita participated in the Queen’s Health System oncology team skincancer screening event at the Oahu Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association, Clement D. Pai’ainaRegatta.  It was a very well attended Sunday morning event at Keehi Lagoon. Armed withdermatoscope in hand, 83 people who love ocean sports were screened by the energetic teamof doctors, physician assistants, nurses, and important supporting staff members. Significantly,18 of the screened participants had suspicious skin lesions and were appropriately referred forfollow up appointments. All persons screened were educated on the importance of daily sunprotection of exposed skin and to periodic self-examine all exposed and covered skin. Thisevent was very successful and everyone is anticipating doing it again next year!
